How long does it take to get into deep sleep?

Sometimes I feel like I'm just tossing and turning all night. I'm trying to improve my sleep quality, and I'm curious, after lying down, how long does it typically take for a person to get into deep sleep?

My mother always says to drink warm turmeric milk before bed to get peaceful sleep, which definitely helps relax the mind. Usually, the body enters deep sleep within 45 to 60 minutes of nodding off. If you face constant sleep issues, consult a doctor.

I read that we should reach deep sleep within an hour of falling asleep, but my fitness band shows I barely get any deep sleep. Does anyone else feel like they wake up tired even after sleeping for 8 hours?

With exams coming up, my sleep is totally messed up. But normally it takes about an hour after you actually drift off to reach that heavy, deep sleep stage where you don't hear your alarm.

My PCOS often messes up my hormones and sleep quality, making it hard to get deep sleep. Usually, it takes about an hour to reach that deep phase, but I have to be very careful with my diet and screen time to actually get there.

My teenager was struggling with restless sleep for months. We established a strict routine of no phones after 9:30 PM, and now he falls into deep sleep within an hour. Consistency in sleeping times really helps children.

Normally, you hit deep sleep in about an hour. If you want to get there faster, cut out blue light from your screens at least 45 minutes before hitting the bed. It is a proven way to improve your sleep cycles.

Don't stress too much about the numbers. Your body naturally transitions into deep sleep within 45 to 90 minutes of sleeping. Just keep your room cool and dark, and let your body do its natural work.
