How long does it take to fall into deep sleep?

My sleep quality isn't great, and I'm trying to understand the different stages of sleep better. I'm especially interested in deep sleep. Once I've fallen asleep, how much time does it usually take to enter that deep sleep phase?

Look, it takes about 45 to 60 minutes after you actually shut your eyes and sleep to reach the deep stage. Stop scrolling reels on your phone till midnight and expect to sleep deeply instantly. Keep the phone away, close your eyes, and let your body do its job.

In normal adult sleep cycles, we transition from light sleep to deep sleep after about 45 minutes. It is during this time that our blood pressure drops and tissues repair. If you find yourself waking up tired, avoid heavy medications and try standardizing your sleeping hours first.

I tried drinking chamomile tea, soaking my feet in warm water, and using lavender oils to fall asleep faster. Deep sleep naturally takes around 45 to 90 minutes to set in once you drift off. While these home remedies are very comforting, a quiet mind is what truly helps you slip into deep rest.

My doctor explained that the sleep cycle consists of different stages, and we typically enter Stage 3 slow-wave (deep) sleep about 45 to 60 minutes after falling asleep. He emphasized that alcohol or late-night caffeine completely disrupts this progression, keeping you in light sleep. Keeping a clean routine is scientifically the best way.

Honestly, if I eat a massive plate of biryani for dinner, I pass out instantly but my sleep tracker shows my deep sleep is delayed by hours! Usually, it should take about 45 minutes to reach deep sleep, but a heavy stomach makes the body work too hard. Keep dinner light if you want solid rest.

I ignored my chronic fatigue and snoring for years, thinking I was just a deep sleeper, but I was actually waking up constantly and never reaching deep sleep. It normally takes about an hour to get there. Please get a sleep study done if you are always tired, don't ignore it like I did.

Does anyone else get anxious looking at their sleep tracker showing very little deep sleep? It's supposed to start within an hour of falling asleep, but I feel like my brain stays alert all night. Is this a common thing or should I consult a doctor?
