How long does it take to fall in deep sleep?

I struggle with insomnia sometimes, and I'm trying different techniques to improve my sleep. I've read that deep sleep is really important. How long does it usually take for someone to fall into deep sleep after going to bed?

With my PCOS, hormonal imbalances often affect my sleep quality, but I try to focus on a good routine. Deep sleep generally starts about an hour after you drift off. I try not to obsess over my sleep tracker data, but keeping a consistent schedule definitely helps me feel more rested.

As a diabetic, I have to be very careful with my dinner timings because high blood sugar levels can disrupt sleep cycles. It usually takes about 45 to 60 minutes after nodding off to reach deep sleep. I always make sure to eat a light, low-carb meal early to help my body enter this healing phase smoothly.

It typically takes about 45 to 90 minutes after falling asleep to enter the deep sleep stage. This is a completely normal biological timeline for most adults.

I used to suffer from bad insomnia and would wake up constantly, but once I fixed my bedtime routine, my tracker showed I now reach deep sleep within 50 minutes. Cutting out caffeine after 4 PM was the real game-changer for me to get that deep, restorative rest.

I agree, it takes about 45 minutes to an hour of sleeping, and keeping your bedroom cool and dark helps you get there much faster.

Wait, you guys are actually falling asleep? It takes me hours of tossing and turning just to close my eyes, let alone hitting deep sleep, which is supposed to happen an hour later. If anyone has a magic trick to shut off my brain, please share!

I am trying to learn more about healthy sleep habits. Does the 45-minute timeline to enter deep sleep change if we take a short afternoon nap, or is deep sleep only possible during long night sleep? Any advice would be so helpful.
