How long does it take for kidney stones to grow?

My husband has a small kidney stone that the doctor is monitoring. We're trying to manage it with diet changes, but I was wondering how quickly these stones usually grow. Is it a slow process, or can they increase in size rapidly?

Haan na, kidney stones grow so silently! They can take anywhere from a few months to a couple of years to become big enough to cause pain.

With diabetes, kidney health is very important. High sugar can accelerate stone formation, which can grow to 5mm in just a few months if we are not careful with hydration.

I went to a urologist who explained that growth depends on urine chemistry. It is always better to get an ultrasound done and ask your doctor clearly.

My doctor said that a kidney stone can grow from a tiny speck to a 4mm stone in about 6 months to a year, depending on how much water you drink.

Stones can grow rapidly without any symptoms until they block the urinary tract. Get a routine kidney function test and ultrasound done every year to be safe.

Bhai, pathri dhire dhire banti hai, saal bhar lag jata hai. Khoob paani pijiye aur nimbu paani lijiye, theek ho jayega.

A friend of mine had her stone grow from 3mm to 7mm in a year. She cut down on dark sodas and chocolate, which really helped stop further growth.

Yes, they can grow to a painful size within 6 to 12 months. Keeping your salt intake low really helps slow down the growth.

I was just diagnosed with a very tiny stone. Does it grow faster if I eat dairy products or can I still have milk?

The constant fear of when the stone will grow and cause pain is very exhausting. Just try to take it one day at a time and drink water.

Don't sit around waiting for the stone to grow and block your kidney. Drink 3-4 liters of water daily and get an ultrasound done to be sure.
