How long does it take for esophageal cancer to grow?

A family friend was recently diagnosed with esophageal cancer, and it was a shock because he had no obvious symptoms until it was advanced. It made me curious, how long does it generally take for esophageal cancer to grow and develop to a significant stage?

It generally takes several years to develop from initial irritation to a tumor. Please don't worry too much and consult a specialist for peace of mind.

These issues develop slowly over many years of chronic acidity or smoking. While healthy eating and warm ginger water soothe the throat, please see a doctor if swallowing is difficult.

Actually, it takes a long time, like years, yaar. But if you have constant bad acid reflux, it's better to get an endoscopy done to be absolutely safe.

I am trying to understand this because my father has constant heartburn. Does chronic acidity always lead to this, or is it rare?

Google will make you feel like a simple hiccup is a stage 4 disease! It takes years of constant damage to grow, so relax and just get a doctor to check your acidity.
