How long does it take for eczema to go away?

My skin has been really itchy and red lately, and my dermatologist said it looks like eczema. I've started using the prescribed creams, but I'm impatient. How long does it generally take for eczema flare-ups to calm down and eventually go away?

For me, eczema flare-ups usually settle down in 2 weeks, especially when I avoid spicy street food and dairy which seem to trigger my itching.

I had a terrible patch on my elbow last month. Applying the mild steroid cream my doctor gave me cleared it up completely in exactly 10 days.

I used to panic seeing the red patches on my hands, but now I know it's just eczema. With regular moisturizing, it usually goes away or gets much better in a week.

From my reading, eczema doesn't have a permanent cure but individual flare-ups can be managed within 1 to 3 weeks if you keep the skin hydrated.

At my age, my skin has its own mood swings. Eczema takes about 2 weeks to go away, provided I actually remember to apply my ointment daily!
