How long does it take for diabetes to kill you?

My father has had diabetes for many years, and lately, his health has been declining. It's a scary thought, but I'm trying to understand the disease better. How long does it usually take for complications of diabetes to become life-threatening?

Diabetes doesn't work like that if you manage it well. My sugar levels were dangerously high last year, but with correct medication and routine, I got them back to completely normal levels.

I know how terrifying these thoughts can be when you are first diagnosed. But please don't worry, people live long, full lives for 30-40 years with diabetes by just staying disciplined.

It only becomes dangerous over many years if it is completely ignored and untreated. Keep your sugar levels in check with proper guidance and you will be absolutely fine.

Life is a gift and we must protect it with calm minds. Eat clean, walk daily, and do your prayers; keeping stress away keeps your sugar stable and healthy.

Untreated high sugar damages organs very slowly over 10 to 20 years. If you take your daily medicines and monitor your HbA1c regularly, there is no need to worry about such extremes.

I have been diabetic for 15 years now and I am perfectly healthy. The trick is to do 30 minutes of brisk walking daily, cut down on white rice, and never miss your doctor appointments.

I totally get it, seeing high numbers on the meter can make you feel really scared. But remember, diabetes is highly manageable today and it won't harm you if you stay active.

Basic diabetes care is very affordable now. You can get cheap generic medicines at Jan Aushadhi stores and do a quarterly HbA1c test to keep everything safe and under budget.
