How.long does it take for a kidney stone to pass?

My brother just found out he has a kidney stone and the doctor said it might pass on its own. He's in a lot of pain. How long does it usually take for a kidney stone to pass naturally?

The time varies a lot, depending on the size of the stone. Small ones, under 4mm, might pass in a few days to a couple of weeks with lots of water and some remedies like lemon water. Larger ones can take weeks, or might not pass at all and need medical intervention. That pain is terrible, so best to talk to a doc.

Oh, passing a kidney stone can be a painful and prolonged affair. Small stones might pass within a few days to a couple of weeks. Bigger ones can take much longer, sometimes months, or may require surgery, which can be costly. It's best to get it diagnosed early so you know the size and can plan for treatment, to avoid bigger expenses later.

I don't know much about kidney stones, but it sounds very painful. So, the time it takes depends on the stone size, right? And what if it's too big, does it always need surgery then? It makes me a little worried.

This sounds like the ultimate diet plan you never asked for! From what I've heard, it can be anywhere from a few days to several weeks, depending on the size of the stone. And all you can probably 'eat' is water, water, water! Hydration is definitely not a joke here.

I can tell you from experience, it feels like an eternity. The pain is just... unbearable, and the waiting for it to pass is emotionally draining. For me, a small stone took almost two weeks, and those were the longest two weeks of my life. It's okay to feel frustrated and scared during this time.

Ah, the joys of getting older and having your body throw curveballs! A kidney stone passing? It feels like forever, even if it's just a few days. The small ones are like tiny, angry grenades. Bigger ones? They need an eviction notice, sometimes with surgery. So, days to weeks, or even months if stubborn.
