How long does it take breast cancer to develop?

My aunt recently got diagnosed with breast cancer, and it's made me very conscious of my own health. I know it can be a slow process, but generally speaking, how long does it take for breast cancer to develop and become noticeable?

I totally get it, even thinking about these things can bring up so much worry and fear. It is a very slow process that usually takes years, but having a gentle conversation with a doctor can give you real peace of mind.

From my own journey, I learned that a tumor can take many years to grow large enough to be felt. That is why mammograms and regular checkups are so crucial, as they catch things way before we can feel them.
