How long does it take a migraine to go away?

Dealing with a bad migraine right now, and it's making it impossible to focus on work. I took my usual medication, but the throbbing is still there. Roughly, how long should I expect this migraine to stick around before it finally goes away?

A typical migraine attack lasts anywhere from 4 to 72 hours if left untreated. I find that taking my prescribed medication the moment the aura starts, and staying in a dark room, cuts the time down significantly.

Mine usually takes a whole day to clear out, and honestly, the worst part is not being able to enjoy my regular filter coffee. I have to stick to bland food and avoid strong smells until the throbbing finally stops.

Usually, the intense headache starts fading after 24 hours, but the hangover feeling can last another day. Make sure you drink enough water and don't skip meals, as empty stomach is a big trigger.

My migraine episodes last about two days. Since I also manage high blood pressure, I always make sure to consult my doctor instead of taking random painkillers, as some can affect BP levels.

For me, the throbbing pain usually lasts about 12 to 15 hours after I rest in a completely quiet room. I can't speak for medical treatments, but sleeping it off is the only thing that helps me personally.
