How long does it take a liver to grow back?

I was reading something about organ donation, and it mentioned that the liver can regenerate itself. That's quite amazing! I'm curious, after a portion is removed or damaged, how much time does a liver usually take to grow back?

The liver is amazing and can grow back to its normal size in about 8 to 12 weeks after a partial removal. Just follow your doctor's advice carefully and rest well.

If you are talking about post-surgery regeneration, it actually happens incredibly fast, mostly within 2 to 3 months. Make sure you plan your medical leave and recovery timeline strictly under your surgeon's guidance.

It is so stressful when you are waiting for the body to heal after a major health scare. Hearing that the liver can grow back in just a couple of months gave me hope, but the mental recovery takes much longer. Please be gentle with yourself.

I donated a portion of my liver to a family member recently. My doctors confirmed that my liver returned to almost its full size in just about 10 weeks. The human body's recovery power is truly unbelievable.

While the liver can regenerate in a few months, don't assume it can repair severe damage on its own if you ignore warning signs. I delayed my checkup once and regretted it. Always get regular liver function tests done if you have issues.
