How long does hepatitis c last on surfaces?

I work in a healthcare setting and sometimes worry about exposure to different viruses. I was just thinking about Hepatitis C and its survival outside the body. How long does Hepatitis C last on surfaces in the environment?

The virus is surprisingly tough and can survive at room temperature on household surfaces for up to 3 weeks! Just use a simple bleach-based cleaner to disinfect properly and keep your home sparkling clean.

Listen, this virus doesn't die instantly. It can live on dry surfaces like steel or plastic for up to 21 days. If you are cleaning any spilled blood or fluids, wear gloves and use a proper disinfectant, don't just wipe it with plain water.

Actually, it can survive for up to 3 weeks on open surfaces, yaar. That is quite a long time! So it is super important to sanitize any contaminated area with bleach immediately to be safe.

In medical settings, we know the Hepatitis C virus can remain infectious on surfaces for up to several weeks. Standard household bleach mixed with water is the best way to kill it; normal hand soap won't work on metal surfaces.

Whoa, I didn't know it could last up to 3 weeks outside the body. That is crazy. Definitely going to be more careful with sanitizing gym equipment and shared stuff from now on!
