How long does gum disease last?

My dentist told me I have some gum disease, and I'm a bit concerned about it. I'm trying to improve my oral hygiene. How long does gum disease last, or is it something that needs continuous management?

Actually, early stage gum disease like gingivitis can clear up in 10 to 14 days if you brush and floss regularly, yaar. But if you ignore it and it becomes deep, it won't go away on its own. You will have to visit a dentist for a proper deep cleaning.

I was reading some dental articles recently, and they say gingivitis is totally reversible in about two weeks with good oral hygiene. But if it advances to periodontitis, it becomes a chronic condition that you have to manage long-term with a dentist's help.

Beta, mild swelling of the gums can settle down in a week if you rinse your mouth with warm salt water twice a day. But remember, traditional remedies only help with mild irritation. If your gums are bleeding or loose, please go to a dentist for proper treatment.

My gums were bleeding every time I brushed, and it lasted for like three weeks because I was too lazy to do anything. I finally went to a dentist, got a scaling done, and my gums were completely normal in just a week. Definitely don't ignore it.

With hormonal issues like PCOS, gum sensitivity and mild inflammation can sometimes flare up and last for weeks. I try to be very careful with my oral hygiene and always consult my dentist if the bleeding doesn't stop in a few days. It is best to seek professional dental advice.

In our family, elders always suggest rinsing with warm sesame oil for gum health, which is comforting. However, for active gum disease, my doctor advised that regular scaling and professional cleaning are absolutely necessary to heal the gums within a couple of weeks.
