How long does flu last after fever breaks?

I had the flu, and my fever finally broke this morning. I'm feeling a little better, but still weak. How long do the other flu symptoms usually last after the fever is gone?

Once the fever goes, the heavy body ache usually takes another 3 to 4 days to settle down. Don't rush back to heavy lifting or intense cardio right away. Keep up the hydration with warm soups, stick to light protein meals, and let your body fully recover first.

Please keep a close watch even after the temperature goes down. Last year, my fever broke but my dry cough turned into a severe chest infection within three days because I ignored the lingering breathlessness. If you feel any heaviness in your chest or struggle to breathe, consult your doctor immediately.

My doctor told me that extreme fatigue can persist for a week or two even after the fever drops, especially if your immunity is already dealing with thyroid issues. I always get my basic blood work done if the weakness stays beyond ten days. It is better to have a quick follow-up with your physician.

I totally get it, that post-fever weakness is honestly the worst part of the flu. You feel like you should be fine since the temperature is normal, but your body just wants to collapse. Give yourself at least 4 to 5 days of pure rest before expecting to feel normal again.

In my experience, the respiratory passage takes around 5 to 7 days to clear up completely after the fever leaves. Practicing very gentle breathing like Anulom Vilom helps relax the chest congestion. Please don't force your body; just rest and breathe easy.

Actually, the fever goes away in 3 days but the real exhaustion stays for almost a week, yaar. I had it last month and was feeling like a zombie at work even without any fever. Just drink coconut water and sleep as much as you can.
