How long does exercise induced asthma last?

When I exercise intensely, sometimes I start wheezing and feel breathless. My doctor mentioned it could be exercise-induced asthma. How long does exercise-induced asthma typically last after I stop exercising?

I used to ignore my coughing after running, thinking I was just out of shape, until I had a major asthma attack during a workout. It took me weeks to recover. Please get a proper lung function test done by a doctor before pushing yourself further.

For me, the wheezing and chest tightness usually peak about 10 minutes after stopping the exercise and completely clear up in 30 to 45 minutes. I started doing proper warm-ups before my runs, which has really helped reduce the severity.

While the symptoms normally go away in 30 to 60 minutes with rest, you must never take breathing difficulties lightly. If you experience severe shortness of breath or blue lips, please go to the nearest emergency room immediately. Get it diagnosed properly.

Typically, the bronchospasm settles down within 30 to 60 minutes after you stop. To manage this, I always do a 10-minute gradual warm-up and cool-down. Eating clean and staying hydrated also helps overall lung capacity over time.

My chest tightness usually lasts about 30 minutes after a heavy session. After that settles, my first instinct is to hunt for a warm cup of ginger tea to soothe my throat! Definitely avoid drinking very cold water immediately after a workout.

I know how terrifying it feels when you suddenly can't catch your breath after running, it used to trigger huge panic attacks for me. The tightness usually resolves in 30 to 45 minutes of resting. Sitting upright and breathing slowly helps calm the mind.
