How long does dry socket pain last?

I had a wisdom tooth extracted yesterday, and the dentist warned me about dry socket. Today, I'm feeling a lot of pain. If it is a dry socket, how long does that kind of pain typically last?

I haven't slept properly in three nights because of this throbbing jaw pain, feels like a mini earthquake in my mouth. Mine lasted for about 8 days before it finally stopped. Honestly, just go to the dentist and get that soothing paste put in.

Dry socket pain can easily last for 7 to 10 days if you don't get it dressed by your dentist. Because of my thyroid, my healing is always a bit slow anyway. Go back to your clinic so they can place a medicated dressing, it gives instant relief.

I tried warm salt water rinses and ice packs, but dry socket pain is very stubborn and lasts a week. The only practical solution is letting the dentist pack it with clove oil dressing. Don't try to poke inside the socket with toothpicks or cotton at home.

At the dental hospital where I got my extraction done, they told me dry socket pain typically peaks around day 3 to 5 and then slowly subsides by day 9. If you can't bear it, call your dentist and ask for a stronger pain management plan.

My son had this last year after his wisdom tooth removal, and he was in terrible pain for about 6 days. We took him back to the doctor who put a special medicated pack inside, and his pain disappeared almost immediately. Please don't let them suffer, just visit the clinic.
