How long does diarrhea and vomiting last?

I woke up this morning with terrible diarrhea and vomiting, and I feel completely drained. It's been a few hours, and I'm just hoping it passes quickly. How long does diarrhea and vomiting typically last in these situations?

Normally diarrhea and vomiting settle in 1 to 3 days, but I once ignored it for four days thinking it was normal food poisoning. I ended up severely dehydrated and collapsed, needing hospital admission. Please don't ignore it if you can't keep fluids down—see a doctor immediately.

Usually, your stomach will finish its dramatic protest within 24 to 48 hours. Just treat your bathroom like your permanent residency for a day, stick to ORS, and you'll be back to normal soon. Hang in there!

In our family, we are advised to drink salted rice kanji water to restore energy during such stomach bugs, which usually clear in 2 days. However, if the vomiting does not stop or if there is fever, you must consult a doctor immediately to prevent severe dehydration.

Actually, it should clear up in 24 to 36 hours, yaar. If it goes on beyond two days, it is probably a bacterial infection and you will need proper medicines. Just keep sipping Electral water and don't eat any heavy outside food.

A standard stomach bug usually resolves in 1 to 3 days. Having thyroid issues makes my system sensitive, so I always keep track of my electrolyte levels during fluid loss. If symptoms persist, a doctor's checkup and proper stool tests are highly recommended.

Most viral gastroenteritis episodes resolve within 24 to 72 hours with adequate hydration. However, if you observe high fever, severe abdominal pain, or blood in stool, these are red flags. It is always safest to consult a doctor for clinical guidance.

Hey, don't stress too much! It is usually just some bad street food and should go away in a day or two. Just lie down, sip some coconut water slowly, and let your stomach rest.

When my whole family got this stomach infection, it lasted for exactly 48 hours. My best tip is to completely avoid dairy and solid food for the first 12 hours. Focus only on ORS, black tea, and light apple juice to let the gut recover.
