How long does dandruff shampoo take to work?

I just bought a new dandruff shampoo, hoping it will finally fix my flaky scalp problem. I'm excited to see results, but also a bit impatient. How long does dandruff shampoo typically take to start working effectively?

My dandruff shampoo didn't work even after a month, and the severe itching led to a painful scalp infection. Please be cautious; if you don't see any improvement in 2 weeks, stop self-treating. Go see a dermatologist to rule out psoriasis or seborrheic dermatitis.

I agree that it takes about 2 to 3 weeks to see results. Just make sure you leave the shampoo on your scalp for 5 minutes before rinsing it off.

My grandmother used to tell me to apply hibiscus paste, but when the flaking got bad, I switched to a ketoconazole shampoo. It took about 3 washes over two weeks to show a noticeable difference. Let the shampoo sit on your scalp as the doctor directs, then wash it off.

Look, don't expect magic in one wash. A good medicated dandruff shampoo takes at least 2 to 4 weeks of regular use, twice a week, to actually clear the build-up. Stick to the routine and don't keep switching brands every week.

It usually takes about 3 to 4 washes for the flaking to go down. Instead of buying very expensive commercial brands, ask your local chemist for a simple coal tar or ketoconazole shampoo. It is highly effective and doesn't pinch your pocket.
