How long does burn pain last?

Yesterday, I accidentally touched a hot pan and got a burn on my hand. It's a second-degree burn, and it's quite painful right now. I'm wondering, how long does the severe pain from a burn like this typically last?

Oh no, a burn can be so painful! It really depends on how bad the burn is. For a small first-degree burn, the intense pain might only last a day or two, then it's more of a soreness. Second-degree can be painful for a week or more. Just keep it clean and covered, and if it's deep, please see a doctor immediately.

For minor burns, the initial stinging pain might reduce significantly in a few hours or a day. My mother always said to put cold water and then aloe vera gel. But if it's anything more than superficial, or if you see blistering, please consult a doctor without delay. They will give you the right medicine and dressing.

I haven't had a bad burn myself, but I always wondered. Does the pain from a very small burn, like touching a hot pan, go away quickly if you put it under water? Or does it keep hurting for a long time?

I totally get it, burn pain is really excruciating and very unsettling. For minor burns, the sharp pain usually subsides within 24-48 hours, then it's more of an irritation. But for deeper burns, the pain can be quite severe and prolonged, lasting for days or even weeks. Do not hesitate to seek medical help if it's anything serious.

The duration of burn pain really depends on its severity. For minor first-degree burns, the pain might subside in a couple of days. Ensuring your body has enough nutrients through a good diet can sometimes help with healing processes generally. But for anything more than a superficial burn, please consult a doctor for proper treatment and pain management.

I burnt my hand slightly with hot oil once, and the stinging pain lasted about 1-2 days, then it was just a little tender for a few more days. I just kept it clean. I wouldn't know about more serious burns though, that's definitely doctor territory.
