How long does appendix pain last?

My brother had appendix pain a few months ago and had to get surgery. I felt a slight ache in my right lower abdomen today, and I'm a bit nervous. How long does appendix pain usually last before it becomes an emergency?

Hey, if it's actual appendicitis pain, it won't really 'last' and then disappear, it tends to get worse over several hours. Like, it usually starts mild and then becomes very sharp and constant. So, don't stress too much but if it's really painful and getting worse, please see a doctor ASAP, okay?

Beta, if it is appendix pain, it's not something that just comes and goes. It begins as dull pain, then becomes quite severe and constant, usually over 12 to 24 hours. It's not a pain you can ignore or hope will just 'last out'. You must go to the hospital right away, don't waste time thinking.

Appendix pain? Oh god, that's not the kind of pain you 'last' through, it's the kind you want gone five minutes ago! My colleague had it, and he was writhing for hours before they took him to the hospital. It just kept getting worse, no joke. Don't be a hero, get to the doctor!

Namaste. My aunt always says if you have appendix pain, you won't wait to ask 'how long'. It will be very sharp, in the lower right side, and not go away. It usually keeps getting more intense over a day or two. Don't try home remedies for this, please see the doctor quickly, it is important.

Appendix pain doesn't 'last' in the sense of going away on its own. It's progressive. It usually intensifies and localizes over a period of hours, eventually becoming excruciating. If you're experiencing symptoms, get immediate medical attention. It's a surgical emergency.
