How long does angina last before heart attack?

My uncle has been complaining of chest pain on and off, which his doctor said might be angina. We're all very worried about him. What I want to know is, how long does angina usually last before it could become something more serious, like a heart attack?

Listen carefully, angina usually lasts only a few minutes, maybe 5-10 at most, and it gets better with rest or medication like nitroglycerin. If your chest pain is lasting longer than that, or is getting worse, or you're getting other symptoms like sweating or breathlessness, don't wait even a second. Call an ambulance or go to the nearest emergency room immediately. This is not something to discuss on a forum, please consult a doctor. Seriously.

I was just reading up on this because my nani sometimes gets chest pain. It said that typical angina lasts a few minutes, usually less than 10-15. But unstable angina or a heart attack is much longer and more severe. It's kinda scary how similar the initial symptoms can be!

From my experience with my dad, stable angina pain was usually brief, like 2-5 minutes, and he knew it meant he needed to take his medicine and rest. But if it goes on for longer, say 15-20 minutes, or feels different, that's when things get serious. Always tell your doctor about any chest pain, don't wait.

Angina itself is a warning sign, so it's not something to ignore or try to time. If you or someone you know is having chest pain, it's crucial to get medical attention right away. Better to be safe than sorry, always. Don't self-diagnose based on how long it lasts.

Bhai/Behan, if you're asking this, it means you or someone close is having chest pain. Don't sit around waiting. Angina means your heart is screaming for help. Go to the doctor. Don't try to calculate 'how long'. It's not a bus timetable. Serious matter hai.

In a fast-paced life, we often ignore signs. Angina pain is usually very short, like 5 minutes. If it's sustained for more than 10-15 minutes, or comes with other symptoms like breathlessness or pain in the arm, that's an immediate emergency. Don't delay, go to the hospital. Your job can wait, your heart cannot.
