How long does an asthma attack last without inhaler?

My younger brother has asthma, and sometimes he gets an attack when his inhaler isn't immediately available. It's really scary. I just want to know how long such an attack can typically go on without the medication.

Please do not try to wait it out. I once tried to sit through an attack without my inhaler and ended up in the ICU with severe oxygen depletion. If you don't have an inhaler, seek emergency medical help immediately.

An asthma attack can become life-threatening in minutes without proper medication. There is no fixed duration, and trying to manage it without an inhaler is extremely risky. Please call for an ambulance or go to the nearest hospital right away.

While maintaining good cardiovascular fitness and a clean diet helps your lungs, an active asthma attack is a medical emergency. You cannot breathe your way out of it without an inhaler. Please get medical help immediately.

I can only imagine how terrifying it feels when you can't breathe properly and don't have your inhaler near you. Please don't try to wait for it to stop on its own. Sit upright, try to stay calm, and ask someone to take you to a doctor immediately.

My pulmonologist clearly warned me that an asthma attack will not resolve on its own without a bronchodilator. The airways will continue to tighten, which can lead to respiratory failure. Please treat this as an emergency and go to a hospital.
