How long does a stent stay in for kidney stones?

My husband recently had a kidney stone removed and a stent was placed. We're waiting for the follow-up appointment, but we're curious, how long does that stent usually stay in for kidney stones?

Oh, when I first heard about stents for kidney stones, I totally freaked out! Thought it was some permanent thing. But no, usually they're temporary, just to help things pass or recover. My doc put it in for a few weeks only, then removed it. It was fine, don't worry.

Arey bhaiya, ye toh doctor hi theek se batayenge. Mere ek padosi ko bhi hua tha pathri ka problem, unka stent thode din hi rakha tha. Jab tak stent hai, tab tak bahut dhyan rakhna padta hai. Pani khoob piyo aur doctor ki baat mano.

Generally, stents for kidney stones are temporary, meaning from a few days to several months, depending on why it's placed. My sister had one after her stone removal. She was told to drink lots of water and eat less oxalate-rich foods during that time. Always confirm with your doctor for your specific diet too.

Stent duration depends, usually a few weeks to months. Once it's out, focus on hydration and diet to prevent new stones. I keep my water intake high and eat balanced, helps keep my system clean. Definitely talk to your doctor for exact timeline for your case.

Don't listen to any fixed numbers online, yaar. Every person is different, every stone is different. Some people need it for a few days, some for a few months. Only your doctor who did the procedure can tell you for sure. Don't fall for internet gyaan.

See, for things like kidney stones, it's really important to follow up with your doctor. I have thyroid issues, so I know how crucial regular tests and doctor visits are. The duration of the stent can vary a lot depending on your specific situation and the stone's size. Best to ask your urologist directly.
