How long do malaria shots last?

My company is sending me for a project to a region where malaria is quite common. I got a malaria shot recently, but I'm not sure how long its protection lasts. Should I get another one before I travel?

Currently, there isn't a widely available 'malaria shot' in the sense of a single, long-lasting vaccine that provides lifelong immunity like many other vaccines. The new RTS,S/AS01 vaccine offers partial protection for a limited time, requiring multiple doses. Its efficacy wanes over about 4 years. Always consult your travel clinic or physician for the most current recommendations for your specific region and travel plans.

Malaria is quite serious, and I remember hearing about different protections. I've always focused on repellents and covering up. For a 'shot', it's not like a tetanus shot that lasts ages. The new ones have limited duration. It's best to discuss with a doctor about what options are truly effective and how long they protect.

Malaria shot, huh? I wish there was one that lasted forever, then my annual trips to visit family in UP would be less of a headache! From what I know, the current options offer protection for a few years, but nothing permanent yet. So, keep those mosquito coils handy, my friend.

Malaria is a challenge, but with proper care and faith, we can protect ourselves. The current vaccines provide protection for a few years. It's important to remember that prevention is also in our hands – keep surroundings clean, use repellents. Consult a doctor for the best medical advice. Stay well and positive.

I'm so anxious about malaria when travelling. Are these shots really effective? And do they only last a few years? What if I forget when to get the booster? Has anyone actually taken them and felt confident?
