How long can you sleep with contacts in?

I sometimes forget to take my contact lenses out before sleeping, especially if I'm super tired after a long day at work. Just wondering if this is a big deal, and for how long is it really unsafe to sleep with them on? My eyes feel a bit dry the next morning.

Honestly, I've accidentally slept with mine in for a few hours sometimes after a late-night study session. My eyes felt really dry and irritated in the morning! My optician always says don't do it, unless they're specific extended wear lenses. Not worth the discomfort, yaar.

Just like how your body needs to recover from exercise, your eyes need to breathe too. Sleeping with contacts restricts oxygen to your cornea, which is not healthy. It's better to remove them for proper eye health and recovery. Treat your eyes well!

Oh god, I get so anxious about eye infections! My doctor always says never to sleep with contacts in because of the risk of serious problems. It's definitely not worth the risk, even if you feel tired. Please take them out before you sleep!

It's generally not recommended to sleep with contacts, unless they are specifically extended wear.

My ophthalmologist clearly stated that most daily wear contacts are not safe for overnight use. They reduce oxygen flow to the cornea, significantly increasing the risk of infections, ulcers, and permanent damage. Only extended wear lenses are approved for sleeping, and even then, it's best to minimize it.

A practical rule of thumb: if it's not explicitly labelled 'extended wear' and approved by your eye doctor for overnight use, do not sleep with them. The cost of an eye infection or damage is far greater than the inconvenience of taking them out. Simple solution: take them out!

My mother always said to be careful with your eyes, they are very delicate. Doctors also advise against sleeping with contacts in, unless they are the special extended wear type. It's better to listen to them and remove them for eye health. Don't take chances.

It's best practice to remove daily wear contact lenses before sleeping to prevent complications like corneal ulcers or infections, which can be quite serious. Only certain extended wear lenses are designed for overnight use, but even those carry increased risks compared to daily removal. Prioritize your eye health.
