How long can you live with stage 4 kidney failure?

My mother's reports came back yesterday and the doctor said it's stage 4 kidney failure. It's a very difficult time for our family. I just want to understand, what is the life expectancy for someone with this stage?

Oh my god, this question just gives me so much anxiety. When I hear 'stage 4 kidney failure,' my mind goes to the worst place. Did anyone else feel this much panic when they first heard something like this? It sounds incredibly serious, so I guess doctors will give the best answer here.

Bhai, stage 4 kidney failure is very serious. Don't beat around the bush, go to the best nephrologist you can find. They will tell you about dialysis or transplant options. There's no fixed time, it depends on treatment and how your body responds. Take care of yourself.

I've been dealing with stage 4 CKD for years. It IS tough, but manageable. The key is strict adherence to your doctor's plan, especially diet (low protein, low sodium, low potassium). Dialysis or transplant are options if it progresses. Don't lose hope, many people live good lives with it. Be disciplined.

This is a really tough one, my heart goes out to anyone facing this. Stage 4 is definitely advanced, and it means getting serious medical care is the absolute priority. Don't rely on anything but your nephrologist's advice and treatment plan. Focus on managing symptoms and staying as comfortable as possible.

Just like with thyroid, consistent monitoring and doctor follow-ups are critical for stage 4 kidney disease. Regular tests help doctors adjust treatment. Don't skip any appointments or tests, no matter how tired you feel. That's how you manage to live longer and better with such conditions.

Beta, stage 4 kidney failure means you need to be very, very careful. While doctor's medicines are number one, listen to your elders too for diet. Avoid too much salt, and make sure your water intake is as advised by the doctor. Some say a little basil tea helps, but only with doctor's permission. Take care of your body and mind.

For stage 4 kidney disease, fitness might sound secondary, but even light, doctor-approved exercise can improve energy levels and overall health, which is vital. Controlling other conditions like BP and sugar through discipline helps kidneys too. It's about slowing progression and maintaining strength for treatments.

Stage 4 kidney failure is very serious and needs a clear, expert opinion. My experience with PCOS taught me that there are no quick fixes and self-diagnosis is dangerous. Please work closely with a nephrologist to understand your specific prognosis and treatment options. Don't get disheartened, but be realistic and proactive.
