How long can you live with end stage kidney disease?

My mother is in the advanced stages of kidney disease, and it's been very hard to see her struggle. The doctors call it 'end-stage'. I want to understand, how long can a person live with end-stage kidney disease?

With ESKD, you must stay on top of regular blood and urine tests. While it is serious, dialysis or a kidney transplant can help you live for many, many years with proper medical management.

Dealing with chronic organ issues is extremely tough, and ESKD requires careful handling. Survival depends entirely on regular dialysis or finding a transplant donor, so please work closely with your medical team.

Please do not delay dialysis if your nephrologist has recommended it. My relative had severe fluid build-up in the lungs because we delayed starting treatment, which became very critical.

I have been managing ESKD for over five years now through regular dialysis twice a week. It was tough at first, but with discipline, you can absolutely live a long and stable life.

My cousin has been living with end-stage kidney disease for 8 years now on dialysis and is doing quite well. It requires a lot of diet control and family support, but it is certainly manageable.
