How long can you live with a bad liver?

My neighbour has been diagnosed with some liver issues, the doctor said it's quite bad. It got me thinking, how long can someone live if their liver is not functioning well? What are the chances?

It depends on the stage of liver damage, but you can live for many years if you act fast. Stop alcohol completely and cut down on fried foods immediately. Getting an ultrasound and LFT done every six months is the key to managing it.

For mild liver issues, regular consumption of warm water with lemon or amla juice in the morning can help detoxify. However, if there is swelling in the stomach or yellowing of the eyes, please rush to a specialist immediately instead of relying on home remedies.

Honestly, a damaged liver can still function for years if diagnosed early. But if you have severe symptoms like extreme fatigue or jaundice, don't sit on it. Schedule an appointment with a gastroenterologist this week itself.

My doctor told me my liver enzymes are elevated and I've been so scared. I keep reading scary statistics online and can't sleep. Did anyone else here also get high SGOT/SGPT levels and manage to bring them back to normal?

The human body has a wonderful capacity to heal if we give it the right environment and peace of mind. Pray, stay positive, eat simple sattvik food, and let the doctors do their job. Your mental peace is very important for physical recovery.

Just like managing my thyroid, keeping the liver healthy requires regular tracking. Get your LFT blood tests done every 3 to 6 months as recommended by your physician. It helps catch any sudden changes before they become serious.

If it is fatty liver or early stage damage, you can easily reverse it and live a long life. Daily 45 minutes of brisk walking and cutting out processed sugars did wonders for my liver reports. Ask your doc and start moving!

I tried all kinds of herbal juices when my liver health dropped, but what actually worked was a combination of lifestyle changes and proper medical treatment. Be very careful with unverified ayurvedic powders as some can put extra load on your liver.

In our days, we relied heavily on eating papaya and drinking boiled neem-water for liver health. These are good for digestion, but remember, modern medical checkups are absolutely necessary if the liver is genuinely weak. Take care of your health.

The liver is actually the only organ that can regenerate itself if damage is caught in stages 1 or 2. My doctor told me that even with cirrhosis, patients can survive 10-12 years or more with strict medication, diet, and potentially a transplant.

Please don't take liver issues lightly. My father's mild liver condition turned into fluid accumulation in the abdomen very quickly because we delayed treatment. If you notice fluid retention or confusion, go to a hospital immediately.

At 51, my liver practically begs for mercy every time I look at a plate of chole bhature. Honestly, we can survive quite long with a sluggish liver if we stop treating it like a garbage bin. Time to say goodbye to the late-night parties!
