How long can you live on dialysis with liver failure?

My friend's sister has severe liver failure and is now on dialysis. It's a very difficult time for their family. What is the typical life expectancy for someone who is on dialysis due to liver failure?

When both liver and kidney issues require advanced support, the body is under heavy stress. Survival depends on the underlying cause and if a transplant is planned, which is often the main goal. If the doctor allows, very light movement or sitting up can help maintain some strength, but rest is key.

In such critical health conditions where multiple organs are weak, keeping the mind extremely calm is a true blessing. Dialysis or liver support can help buy some time, but it is a very delicate stage. Focus on gentle prayers, comfortable resting, and letting the doctors do their work.

I get so anxious reading about combined liver and kidney failure because it sounds incredibly critical. Usually, dialysis in liver failure is a short-term support or bridge to a transplant, rather than a long-term solution. Sending lots of strength to anyone dealing with this stressful situation.

Treating liver failure along with dialysis is extremely expensive, involving frequent ICU stays and specialized blood tests. It is very important to discuss the realistic long-term outcomes and costs of transplants with your doctor early. Proper financial planning is crucial for the family at this stage.

My family member went through severe liver issues and required temporary dialysis during acute kidney injury. It was a highly critical battle of several weeks in the hospital before the liver recovered. Trust your medical team completely and monitor liver and kidney stats daily.
