How long can u live with liver failure?

My father's health has been declining, and the doctors have mentioned liver failure. We're trying to prepare ourselves mentally. What is the typical life expectancy once someone is diagnosed with liver failure?

In chronic liver failure, people can manage for several years with strict dietary restrictions and modern medicines. However, if it is acute liver failure, it is a sudden medical emergency that requires immediate hospitalization. The long-term solution for advanced cases is usually a transplant.

Life expectancy depends entirely on whether the failure is acute or end-stage chronic. With advanced liver failure, survival can range from months to a couple of years depending on complications like encephalopathy. A liver transplant specialist is the best person to evaluate the specific prognosis.

It is a very challenging phase, but keeping a positive mindset is deeply important for healing. Many people find hope through successful transplants and live beautiful lives afterward. May you find strength and the right medical guidance during this time.

I made the mistake of ignoring swelling in my legs and mild jaundice, thinking it was just weakness, and it almost damaged my organs permanently. If you suspect any signs of liver issues, please do not delay. Get a proper liver profile test done immediately.

If a transplant is recommended, start researching government hospitals or trust-run medical centers early, as they offer the same treatments at a much lower cost. Proper planning of finances and finding a donor takes time, so start discussing it with your family now.

Agree with the points above, a liver transplant is often the only definitive cure for true liver failure. Please consult a transplant coordinator at a good hospital.

Honestly, the liver is like that one worker in the group project who does all the work, so when it fails, everything crashes fast. You can't survive long without a functioning liver, so please listen to the doctors and keep those hospital visits on track.

In the early stages of liver disease, maintaining whatever physical strength you have is very helpful. If the doctor permits, doing light, short walks can help keep your muscles active and reduce fatigue. Just never overexert yourself.
