How long can u live with cirrhosis of the liver?

My uncle was recently diagnosed with liver cirrhosis, and we're all very worried. He's been asking about his prognosis. Can someone shed some light on the general life expectancy for someone with this condition?

While medical treatment is absolutely essential for cirrhosis, gentle breathing exercises like Pranayama can help reduce stress and improve daily energy. If it is compensated cirrhosis, people live for many years with a calm mind and disciplined life. Stay positive.

Look, if it is diagnosed early and you completely stop alcohol and oily food, you can live for 10-15 years or even more. But if you keep neglecting your diet and lifestyle, things can go downhill very fast. Take it seriously and follow the doctor's routine strictly.

Cirrhosis is a very serious disease, ho na. But my neighbor has been managing it for the last 8 years with proper medicines and a very strict diet. It really depends on how much the liver is damaged, so regular follow-ups are a must.

Our gastroenterologist explained that life expectancy depends on whether the cirrhosis is 'compensated' or 'decompensated'. For compensated, the median survival is over 12 years, but if complications like ascites or bleeding start, it drops significantly. Close medical monitoring is crucial.

Agreed, early detection makes a huge difference in survival rates. Please ensure they get regular liver function tests to monitor the condition.

People with early-stage cirrhosis can live for a decade or more if they maintain a healthy weight. If your hepatologist allows it, regular light walking can help prevent muscle wasting, which is very common in liver patients. Just keep the intensity low.

Cirrhosis can lead to sudden, severe complications like internal bleeding or confusion due to toxin buildup. You must get regular ultrasounds and blood tests done as advised by a specialist. Never try to manage this at home without expert supervision.
