How long can typhoid pills be out of the fridge?

My little son is on typhoid medication, and the doctor told us to keep the syrup in the fridge. Yesterday, while going to my mother's house, I forgot it outside for a few hours. Just wondering if it's still safe to use or if I need a new bottle.

Most oral typhoid vaccines need to be kept cold, but they can usually handle room temperature for a couple of hours while you travel. If they were left out overnight, their potency might be ruined. Better to call your pharmacist quickly before taking them.

When I was taking my typhoid pills last month, the clinic specifically told me to keep them in the fridge fridge till the last minute. Leaving them out in Indian heat even for a few hours can make them completely useless. Don't risk it, ask for a fresh batch if they got warm.

With our frequent power cuts, keeping medicines cold is such a headache! If the pills were out for just an hour or two while you brought them home, they should be fine. But if they've been sitting on the counter in this humidity, they might just be expensive sugar pills now.

Don't trust any advice here saying 'it will be fine' for days. Temperature-sensitive pills can degrade very fast in our climate. Take the strip back to your doctor or pharmacist and ask them directly if it's still safe to use.

Typhoid treatments and blood tests already cost a lot of money, so don't waste your expensive pills by leaving them out. Keep them in the main compartment of the fridge, not the door where the temperature changes. If they were left out for long, check with the chemist if they can replace them.

I had a severe relapse of typhoid because my medicine wasn't stored correctly and lost its strength. Please do not take any chances with typhoid pills left at room temperature. Check with your doctor immediately to see if you need a new prescription.
