How long can tb survive on surfaces?

My colleague has TB, and while I know precautions are taken at work, I'm still a bit concerned about hygiene. I was wondering, how long can the TB bacteria survive on surfaces like desks or doorknobs?

TB bacteria can live on surfaces for several weeks if the conditions are dark and cold. Because of my thyroid, my immunity is always slightly low, so I am very careful about hygiene. If you suspect exposure, it is best to consult a doctor and get regular checkups done instead of just worrying.

I have helped many people on this forum with similar queries. While TB bacilli can survive on dry surfaces for months in dark rooms, they are highly sensitive to UV light. Just letting direct sunlight into your rooms and cleaning with normal disinfectants is enough to neutralize them.

The bacteria can stay active on surfaces for a long time, but a strong immune system is your best shield. Keeping your body active with regular workouts and eating high-protein meals helps build solid resistance. Keep your gym gear clean and wipe down shared equipment before use.

Having managed TB in my own family, I can tell you that the bacteria can stay in dark, dusty corners for weeks. The best practical tip is to wash the patient’s bedsheets and clothes in hot water and dry them in direct sunlight. Keep the windows open to let fresh air circulate.

When a colleague was diagnosed, I completely panicked thinking the whole office desk area was infected for months. But my doctor reassured me that TB is primarily spread through the air when an active patient coughs close to you. Normal daily cleaning makes surface transmission extremely rare.

I was researching this online and found out that TB bacteria have a thick waxy coat that protects them, letting them survive on dry surfaces for months in shady areas. It's fascinating but also a reminder to keep our living spaces clean and well-lit.

TB germs can survive for weeks on household items. As a diabetic, I have to be extra cautious about infections since high sugar levels can weaken our immunity. Make sure to keep your blood sugar in control and maintain a very hygienic living environment.

Haan, yeh bacteria toh surfaces pe kuch hafte tak zinda reh sakta hai, especially agar wahan dhoop na aati ho. But chinta mat karo, normal phenyl ya disinfectant se saaf karne se sab theek ho jata hai. Ghabraane ki bilkul zaroorat nahi hai, na!
