How long can someone live without a liver?

I heard a story recently that made me wonder about the human body. It sounds really extreme, but how long can someone actually live without a liver? Like, if they had some medical emergency.

Dekho boss, the simple answer is that nobody can live without a liver at all. It is an absolute necessity for survival, and if it is completely removed or fails, a person can only survive for a few days without a transplant. Don't look for any alternative ways around this, a transplant is the only medical solution.

I had severe liver complications and let me tell you, things can deteriorate into a life-threatening crisis in just hours when the liver stops working. Since you absolutely cannot live without a liver, please do not ignore any signs of jaundice, confusion, or extreme weakness. Seek immediate emergency medical care.

Our body is a beautiful creation where every organ has its divine purpose, and the liver is vital for life. Without it, the physical body cannot sustain itself for more than a few days. Let us pray for strength and keep a positive heart while seeking the best medical path or transplant options.

The liver is responsible for storing and releasing glucose to keep us alive, so survival without it is impossible. Even with severe liver damage, our glucose levels go haywire, which is why managing liver health is so critical. Please protect your liver with a healthy diet and proper medical care.

I know how terrifying it is when you are facing a severe liver diagnosis and trying to understand the worst-case scenarios. Just to reassure you, even if a large part of the liver is damaged, it has an amazing capacity to grow back. However, a person cannot survive without any liver tissue, which is why transplants are done in extreme cases.

I always try home-cooked light food and herbal teas for small digestive or liver issues, but we must understand that these cannot help if the liver is completely gone. A liver is indispensable for life. If you are dealing with a severe liver condition, please leave the home remedies aside and consult a transplant specialist immediately.

The liver performs hundreds of essential functions like filtering toxins and helping blood clot, so you literally cannot survive without it for more than a couple of days. If someone's liver is completely failing, they are kept stable in the ICU while waiting for an emergency transplant. Please speak to a transplant coordinator for practical guidance.

My doctor clarified that while we can survive on dialysis without kidneys, there is currently no long-term artificial machine that can replace all liver functions. Without a functioning liver, toxic ammonia builds up in the brain rapidly, leading to coma and death within 24 to 48 hours. This is why liver transplantation is an absolute emergency when liver failure is total.
