Prostate cancer is usually one of the slowest-growing cancers out there, and many elderly men live for 10, 15, or even 20 years after diagnosis. Many times, doctors don't even start aggressive treatment immediately and just monitor it through 'active surveillance'. Just make sure they keep getting their regular PSA blood tests done on time.

When my grandfather was diagnosed, I stayed up all night crying and reading clinical papers, thinking the worst. But I realized that the 5-year survival rate for localized prostate cancer is almost 99%, which is incredibly reassuring! Try not to panic, just support them and let the doctors guide you.

Hearing the word cancer is incredibly shocking and it is totally okay to feel scared and overwhelmed right now. But please know that prostate cancer is highly treatable and most men live very long, active lives with it. Take a deep breath, you and your family are going to get through this.

Managing your overall metabolic health is very important when dealing with cancer therapies. My doctor always says that a low-sugar, whole-food diet helps keep inflammation down, which is beneficial whether you have diabetes or prostate cancer. Focus on clean eating and light daily walks to keep your strength up.

Prostate cancer has an excellent prognosis, especially when detected early. Since treatments range from surgery to hormone therapy or simple observation, the survival rate is extremely high and patients often live out their normal lifespan. A qualified urologist or oncologist is the best person to decide the customized management plan.

My father has this and honestly, he is more worried about his daily cricket matches than his prostate reports! It grows so slowly that sometimes doctors jokingly say you'll die of old age before this cancer actually does anything. Keep your spirits up and don't lose sleep over it like I do!
