How long can someone go without sleep?

Sometimes due to deadlines, I pull all-nighters. My friends keep telling me it's very bad for my health. How long can someone actually go without sleep before it starts having serious health consequences?

Honestly, trying to stay awake for more than a day or two is just torture. Your body will literally force you to pass out after that.

I understand how frustrating it is when sleep just doesn't come, but please don't push your body past 24 hours. I tried everything from drinking warm haldi milk to putting lavender oil on my pillow when my sleep cycle broke. If you are struggling to sleep naturally, try a warm foot soak before bed or chamomile tea, but don't force yourself to stay awake.

Skipping sleep is very risky, especially for your metabolic health. Whenever I pull late nights, my fasting sugar levels next morning go completely out of control, even if I eat properly. Please don't experiment with staying awake for long, it directly messes up your insulin sensitivity.

Oh god, I remember staying awake for almost 40 hours during my college submissions and I actually started seeing weird shadows. It's really not worth it because your brain just stops processing things after 24 hours. Please get some rest, even a small 20-minute power nap can save you from a major breakdown!

It is not safe to go without sleep for more than a day. Your brain and body need that time to repair, so please take care and try to sleep tonight.
