How long can one live with cirrhosis of the liver?

My uncle was recently diagnosed with cirrhosis of the liver. We are all very worried. Can someone tell me, generally speaking, how long can one live with cirrhosis of the liver, and what factors affect it?

It depends a lot on whether it is compensated or decompensated. People can live for 10-15 years or even more if it's caught early, they maintain a super clean lifestyle, and do light walking as permitted by their doctor.

This is a very serious illness, and while good home food and papaya help support liver health, you must stay under strict medical supervision. With proper treatment from a doctor, many people manage to live for several years.

My uncle lived comfortably for over 12 years with cirrhosis because we strictly managed his salt intake and followed the doctor's medicine routine. Do not lose hope, with the right care and regular monitoring, life expectancy can be quite long.

I have learned that chronic conditions require careful management rather than guessing. Some people live for decades with early-stage cirrhosis, while others need a transplant sooner. It's best to discuss the specific prognosis with a trusted hepatologist.

It really varies from person to person. If the cirrhosis is managed well and there are no complications, people can live for many years. Just stay positive and make sure they get regular checkups done.
