How long can diabetes remission last?

My doctor mentioned that some people can achieve diabetes remission with lifestyle changes. This gives me hope, but I'm curious. If someone does go into remission, how long can that last typically?

I completely understand the emotional rollercoaster of trying to maintain diabetes remission. It takes so much daily mental effort, and the fear of it coming back can be really exhausting. Remission can last for years if you maintain your weight, but please be gentle with yourself through the journey.

Don't believe online claims that guarantee permanent diabetes 'cure' or endless remission. Remission can last for months or several years, but it heavily depends on continuous lifestyle maintenance. Always verify your blood sugar readings with laboratory tests and consult your doctor regularly.

My mother is in remission, and her endocrinologist at Fortis told us that it can last for many years as long as her weight and diet are strictly managed. However, she still gets her HbA1c checked every 3 months. Please ask your doctor clearly about your monitoring schedule.

Clinical studies show that diabetes remission can last from a few years to even a decade, depending on sustained weight loss and healthy habits. However, since beta-cell function can decline over time, regular medical consultation and monitoring are highly recommended to ensure safety.

Haan na, remission can go on for many years if we are careful about our diet. But if we start eating sweet things and fried food again, the sugar levels spike back quickly. Routine checkup karte rehna chahiye, ho na.

We have been helping our son manage his lifestyle to maintain his pre-diabetes remission. It has lasted for two years now, but we are very practical about keeping healthy food at home. Consistent support and regular checkups are key to keeping it going.
