How long can diabetes go undiagnosed?

My father's brother was recently diagnosed with diabetes, but he's been feeling unwell for so long. It makes me wonder, how long can someone have diabetes without even knowing it?

Type 2 diabetes can easily go undiagnosed for 5 to 10 years because the early symptoms are extremely mild. Please don't worry, but do get a simple HbA1c blood test done if you haven't checked in a while. It is always better to know and manage it early.

My father went almost 7 years without knowing he had diabetes because he just felt a bit tired and ignored it. It is crazy how silent it can be. Getting a routine blood test once a year is the best way to catch it.

Yes, it can stay hidden for many years without obvious signs. A yearly blood checkup is highly recommended to stay safe.

Medical research indicates that Type 2 diabetes often remains undiagnosed for several years, as symptoms like fatigue or increased thirst are frequently ignored. A professional medical screening is the only definitive way to diagnose it. Please consult your physician for proper guidance.

This is something you shouldn't take lightly. Undiagnosed diabetes can silently cause damage to your kidneys, eyes, and heart over several years. Please consult a doctor and get your fasting blood sugar checked immediately for safety.

I probably walked around with high blood sugar for 5 years, thinking my frequent bathroom trips were just due to drinking too much chai! It can stay silent for a decade. Do yourself a favor and get tested instead of playing guessing games.
