How long can a person go without sleep?

I've been studying for my exams and have pulled a couple of all-nighters this week. I'm feeling really drained. I'm wondering, for general health, how long can a person really go without sleep before it becomes harmful?

My father always said a person shouldn't stay awake for more than 24 hours as it weakens the body's natural defense systems. When I had bad sleep issues during my college days, our family doctor advised us that even 36 hours of no sleep starts affecting brain functions. It's always best to follow clinical advice and prioritize rest.

I totally get it, sometimes life gets so overwhelming or work is so hectic that you find yourself awake for days, wondering how much your body can take. While people can physically survive a few days, it is incredibly exhausting and scary for your mental peace. Please take a break, your body needs to rest and heal.

Please don't try to push your body to see how long you can stay awake, it is highly dangerous. Most people start feeling extremely dizzy and sick after just 48 hours of sleep deprivation. Go turn off your phone, close your eyes, and get some proper rest tonight, your health is much more important.

Haan, physically toh log bolte hain ki days tak reh sakte hain, par actually 2 din me hi brain stop working na. You can't even focus on simple things and feel super irritated. Isliye don't experiment with your body, chupchap time pe so jaya karo.

The scientific record for staying awake is 11 days, but my physician clearly explained that cognitive degradation, like memory loss and hallucinations, begins after just 72 hours. Your immune system also takes a massive hit during extreme sleep deprivation. He strictly warned me against pulling continuous all-nighters for work.

Look, surviving a few days without sleep doesn't mean your body is doing fine inside. Your heart and brain are put under immense pressure with every extra hour you stay awake. Stop testing your limits, get a solid 8 hours of sleep, and keep your body functioning properly.

I remember staying awake for almost 36 hours during my wedding preparations and I felt absolutely dead on my feet. While we can survive a few days, the brain fog and headache are just not worth it. Try to set a strict bedtime and keep a warm cup of herbal tea nearby to help you wind down.

The body cannot survive safely without sleep for more than 2 or 3 days before major organs get strained. Drinking warm milk or a little ashwagandha tea helps calm the nervous system naturally for better sleep. But if you have severe insomnia and cannot sleep at all, please go see a doctor immediately.
