Usually, a temporary kidney stent is kept for 2 to 6 weeks depending on what the doctor says. While drinking plenty of water and barley water helps reduce irritation, you should never delay the removal date. It's practical to keep a calendar reminder so you don't miss the doctor's appointment.

I was reading about this recently and apparently, standard stents can stay for a few weeks to 3 months. There are also long-term metal stents that can stay up to a year, but they must be monitored. It is fascinating how they prevent blockages but still need regular medical attention.

Typically, a kidney stent should not be left in for more than 3 months as it can cause calcification and severe infections. You must always confirm the exact removal or replacement timeline with your urologist. Please get it checked regularly to avoid any internal complications or pain.

The timeline is usually a few weeks, but your doctor will give the final word based on your healing. If the doctor allows, doing very light walking can keep your circulation good, but avoid heavy gym workouts while the stent is inside. Always follow their advice to keep your recovery on track.

Most temporary stents stay in for 2 to 12 weeks. Always check the exact removal date with your treating doctor.

I totally get it, having a foreign object like a stent inside your body can feel very uncomfortable and scary. Normally they are kept for 4 to 6 weeks, but please don't worry as doctors know exactly when to take it out safely. Just stay in touch with your clinic and you will get through this smoothly.

Most urologists keep the stent in for about a month or so after stone surgery. Make sure you're drinking gallons of water to flush things out and keep your diet clean to prevent new stones. Avoid heavy lifting and running until that stent is safely pulled out by your doc.
