How long after tb skin test is it read?

My work requires a yearly TB skin test. I got the test done yesterday evening. The nurse said to come back for reading, but I forgot to ask the exact timing. How long after a TB skin test is it supposed to be read for accurate results?

From what I know during my routine clinic visits, the TB skin test must be read strictly between 48 and 72 hours. If you miss that window, you might have to get the test done all over again, so do plan your follow-up appointment carefully.

I got this done last year for my visa. The clinic told me to come back exactly after 2 days, and they checked the bump on my arm. Don't scratch it or put any bandage on it in the meantime.

Hey, don't worry about it too much. Just make sure you go back to the lab between 48 to 72 hours after the injection. Keep the area clean and dry, and let the doctor inspect it properly.

I was so anxious waiting for those 48 to 72 hours to pass, constantly staring at my arm. Try to distract yourself, it is just a routine check and the reading process is very quick and painless.

Beta, the doctor will check the spot on your arm after 2 or 3 days. Do not apply any home remedies, haldi, or oils on that spot because it can change the test result. Just leave it completely untouched.

Make sure you go to a proper certified lab for this. My first test was misread because I went slightly late, and it caused a lot of unnecessary panic. If you see any extreme swelling or pain, show it to your doctor immediately.

Schedule the test on a Tuesday or Wednesday so that the 48-72 hour reading window falls on a weekday. It takes just 5 minutes for the nurse to measure the skin induration, but you must strictly stick to this timeline.

I had mine read at 72 hours and it was super quick! Just make sure you don't rub the area when you shower, and try to wear loose sleeves so nothing irritates the injection site before they read it.
