How long after taking antibiotic should fever end?

My son has a bad throat infection and started antibiotics last night. He still has a fever this morning. I'm wondering, how long after taking an antibiotic should his fever typically start to come down? Just want to know what to expect.

For me, the fever usually quietens down in 2-3 days, and that is when my taste buds finally wake up! I immediately start craving hot soup and light khichdi with lots of ghee. Just give the medicine some time to work its magic.

I am new here, but my doctor told me it takes around 48 hours to feel a difference. Does the fever usually go away completely on the second day, or does it slowly decrease?

Hey, don't panic. It takes about 48 to 72 hours for the antibiotic to build up in your system and fight the infection. Keep tracking the temperature, sleep well, and if it still doesn't drop after 3 days, just give your doctor a quick call.

Be very careful with this. Once my fever didn't go down even after 4 days of antibiotics and it turned out to be the wrong medicine for that infection. If your fever remains high or if you feel very weak and dizzy, please visit the doctor immediately.

Just recovered from a nasty viral and bacterial throat infection last week. My fever took a solid 3 days to stop coming back after starting antibiotics. Make sure you complete the whole course even if the fever drops tomorrow.

Beta, usually it takes 2 to 3 days for the body to cool down. Drink lots of warm water and take rest, everything will be fine very soon. Do not worry.
