How long after stopping drinking does the liver heal?

My uncle recently decided to stop drinking completely, which is a great step for him. He's been a heavy drinker for many years. We're all wondering, how long does it take for the liver to start healing after someone stops drinking alcohol?

The liver is amazing and can start healing in just a few weeks of quitting. You can drink warm lemon water or take amla to support it, but if you have yellow eyes, severe belly swelling, or extreme fatigue, please see a doctor immediately.

For mild fatty liver, you will see significant healing within 2 to 4 weeks of completely cutting out alcohol. If the damage is severe, like cirrhosis, it might not heal fully, but stopping alcohol stops it from getting worse. Get an LFT scan done to know where you stand.

Don't fall for detox tea advertisements or juice cleanses claiming to heal your liver in a week. True liver regeneration takes months of complete abstinence and proper medical care. Get a liver function test and consult a hepatologist to get an accurate assessment.

Initial healing of liver inflammation can begin within 2 to 3 weeks of stopping alcohol. To aid this process, eat a clean, plant-based diet full of green vegetables and avoid oily, processed foods. Your liver needs clean nutrition to rebuild.

Fatty changes in the liver can start reversing in as little as 4 weeks after you stop drinking. However, the exact timeline depends on how long and how heavily you drank. Keep up the good work, stay hydrated, and do regular checkups with your doctor.

I have seen relatives who quit drinking and recovered their health beautifully over a few months. The body has a wonderful way of repairing itself if you give it clean living and time. Have faith and stay away from the bottle.
