How long after septoplasty can you sleep on your side?

I had septoplasty surgery a few days ago, and I usually sleep on my side. The doctor told me to be careful, but I forgot to ask specifically when I can go back to sleeping on my side comfortably.

You should strictly sleep on your back with 2-3 pillows keeping your head elevated for at least 2 weeks. I tried putting small rolled-up towels on my sides so I wouldn't accidentally roll over in my sleep. It helps reduce nasal swelling much faster.

Do not sleep on your side for at least the first 10 to 14 days. If your nose hits the pillow, it can displace the septum or cause bleeding. Use a travel neck pillow (U-shaped) to lock your head in place while sleeping on your back.

My family kept telling me to sleep straight, and the doctor also strictly advised the same. You need to keep the head elevated on your back for 2 weeks to avoid putting pressure on the nose structure. It is difficult but very important for proper healing.

The main thing is to avoid putting pressure on the nose. Sleeping on your back with two thick pillows is best for the first 10 days. If you find it hard to sleep, try sleeping on a reclining chair if you have one, it keeps you upright and comfortable.

Make sure you stick to sleeping on your back for the full two weeks. I carelessly slept on my side on day 5 and woke up with a nosebleed and increased swelling that required a clinic visit. Don't take shortcuts with post-op care.

I survived on 2 hours of sleep because sleeping on the back feels so unnatural to me. But you really have to do it for about 2 weeks to protect your new nose. Just accept the temporary insomnia, it is worth not ruining the surgery.

Most ENT surgeons recommend sleeping elevated on your back for at least 7 to 10 days post-septoplasty. This minimizes edema and prevents accidental trauma to the nasal bridge. Please consult your surgeon before transitioning to side sleeping.

Hey, I know sleeping on your back is super uncomfortable, but please hang in there for 10-14 days. It prevents your nose from rubbing against the pillow and reduces swelling. Just think of it as a temporary sacrifice for a lifetime of free breathing.
