How long after passing kidney stones does the pain lasts?

I recently passed a kidney stone, and honestly, that was one of the worst pains ever. The stone is gone, but I still have some discomfort. How long after passing it does the pain usually last?

Once the stone actually passes out, the sharp pain stops almost immediately, haan. But thoda lingering soreness or dull ache can stay for 2-3 days because the urinary tract was irritated. Drink lots of water to flush out everything properly.

I have dealt with kidney stones twice in my life. The main excruciating pain goes away the moment the stone is out of the system. You will feel a bit sore inside for a couple of days, but that is just your body recovering, so don't worry.

The intense pain stops instantly once it passes, but a mild soreness can stay for 24 to 48 hours.

While the acute spasm ends immediately after passage, mucosal irritation in the ureter can cause a dull ache for up to 3 days. However, if you experience high fever, severe blood in urine, or persistent vomiting, please see your doctor immediately as these are red flags for infection.

Don't just assume the stone has passed because the pain stopped, and definitely don't rely on random advice online. Sometimes the pain stops because the stone just shifted position. Go get an ultrasound done to confirm it is actually gone.

Please rest as much as you can. It is normal to feel some mild discomfort or burning for a day or two after the stone has passed. Just keep drinking warm water and let your body heal.

The actual blockage pain vanishes immediately. If you are still feeling sharp, twisting pain after 2 days, it means there is another stone or a fragment left. Get a quick scan done instead of waiting around.
