How long after a fever are you contagious?

My daughter had a fever a couple of days ago but now she's feeling much better. I need to send her to school, but I'm worried about her being contagious. How long after a fever is someone still contagious, generally?

In my experience with my kids, doctors always say you are usually contagious until at least 24 hours after the fever is completely gone without using any paracetamol. I always keep my son home from school for one extra day just to be absolutely safe for other kids.

It is best to give your body ample time to rest and clear out the illness completely. Generally, a day or two after the body temperature normalizes is a safe window to resume normal interactions. Take care of your health and keep a peaceful mind.

Most health tracking apps and medical guidelines suggest you remain contagious for about 24 hours post-fever. Keep monitoring your temperature trends on your tracker. Make sure you don't rush back to the gym until you are completely symptom-free.

I am not a medical expert, but when I had a viral fever last month, my doctor advised me to isolate for a full 24 hours after my temperature came back to normal. That seemed to work well as no one else in my family caught it.

Honestly, I just stay in my hostel room until it has been a full day since my last fever spike. Going to college with a running nose and weakness is the worst anyway. Just skip classes for an extra day and rest up.
