How long after a fall can pain start?

My mother fell yesterday morning, and she said she felt okay at first, but now she's complaining of some pain. She's asking if it's normal for pain to appear later. How long after a fall can pain actually start?

Hey, don't worry too much. It is very common for pain to not show up immediately because of the adrenaline rush during the fall. You might start feeling sore or stiff by tomorrow morning. Just rest up tonight and let me know if it gets worse, okay?

Pain can easily delay by 24 to 48 hours because the body goes into defense mode. I strongly advise getting an X-ray or a doctor's checkup done even if the pain is mild right now. It is always better to be safe than sorry later.

The soreness often creeps in the next day once the body fully relaxes. To help with the internal healing, you can have warm milk with a pinch of turmeric at night. Make sure you avoid heavy or oily foods that might cause bloating while you are resting.

Delayed pain is a classic response as the initial shock wears off and inflammation sets in, usually within 12 to 24 hours. Keep some basic pain relief spray or ice packs ready at home. If you notice any sudden severe swelling or inability to move the joint, please visit a clinic.

Sometimes it takes up to 24 hours for the swelling and stiffness to really begin. Try to rest the injured area and apply some ice if you notice any mild swelling. Hope you feel better soon.

In my experience, muscle soreness can take a day or two to fully surface after a hard impact. Since our bodies can react differently, please don't strain yourself with heavy work right now. Just observe how you feel over the next two days.
