How is skin cancer diagnosed?

My father noticed a strange mole on his arm that's changed shape. He's quite worried about skin cancer. What kind of tests do doctors do to figure out if it's actually skin cancer?

When we had a scare with my son's birthmark, the skin doctor did a physical check and recommended a biopsy. They just take a tiny piece of the skin after numbing the area, and the lab results tell you the truth. It is a simple, quick test, so please don't be scared to visit a doctor.

A dermatologist first looks at any strange moles or patches using a special magnifying tool. If they find something suspicious, they will do a small biopsy, which is a tiny skin sample test. Keep up with your daily walks or workouts if the doctor says it is fine, but definitely get any weird spot checked.

A dermatologist has to examine it physically and they will do a skin biopsy if they find any spot doubtful. That is the only sure way to diagnose it.

They check the skin visually and then do a biopsy of the affected spot to confirm. Since I manage my diabetes carefully, I always make sure my skin heals well after any minor scrapings or biopsies. Make sure to tell your doctor if you have any other health conditions before the procedure.

Honestly, I had a dark mole that grew suddenly and I completely panicked, thinking the worst. When I went to the doctor, they did a quick check-up and said it was benign, but they explained that a biopsy is the standard way to diagnose skin cancer. Don't stress yourself out before getting it looked at by a professional.
