How is chronic kidney disease diagnosed?

My father has been having some health issues lately, and the doctor is running tests for kidney problems. I heard them mention 'chronic kidney disease'. How is chronic kidney disease diagnosed typically?

While keeping hydrated and eating a low-salt diet helps, chronic kidney disease can only be diagnosed through medical tests. Doctors do blood tests for creatinine and urine tests to check for protein. Please see a nephrologist for a proper checkup.

Do not trust anyone claiming they can diagnose or cure kidney issues using home powders or juices. The only scientific way to diagnose CKD is through an eGFR blood test, urine albumin-creatinine ratio, and an ultrasound. Go to a certified lab and consult a doctor.

I know how stressful it is to hear about kidney issues, it completely broke me when my father was diagnosed. It is usually detected through simple blood and urine tests. Please don't lose heart, modern medicine has excellent ways to manage and slow down the progression.

We ignored early signs of fatigue and swelling in the feet, which led to severe complications and emergency dialysis later. Please get your kidney function tests (KFT) and urine routine checked immediately by a specialist to catch it early.
